Lead for Protection from Radiation

I am a student. I have a project on lead radiation. I want to know why X-rays, CT scans and MRI equipment are shielded with lead. Are there any specific reasons?

X-rays, CT scans, MRI scans and other radio pharmaceuticals equipment are used to detect improper functioning of internal organs and to cure certain diseases. However, overexposure to the radiations emitted by these types of equipment can be dangerous. Therefore, to regulate the intensity of radiation scattered by these equipment, they are shielded with lead.

One primary property of lead that makes it ideal for shielding material is its density. Other properties such as its high degree of application flexibility, extreme level of stability, and high atomic number also make it ideal for radiation shielding.
