Important Elements for a Successful E-Commerce Website

The internet plays a very significant role in the world of business and, over the years, it has emerged as the largest marketplace. If you are in a retail business and want your business to perform well and drive the sales of your products, you need to create a robust online presence. Therefore, creating an ecommerce website can be a great solution. However, you must ensure that the design of your ecommerce website is effective enough to drive sales.

Your e-commerce website should have the following important elements:

Detailed product information: Shopping online does not provide customers the advantage of picking up an item, feeling it, and reading information on the labels. An ecommerce website should, therefore, do the best to improve on the in-store shopping experience. Your website must provide as much information as it can on sizes, materials, weight, dimensions, and other pertinent features of the product.

Detailed contact information of your business: Customers who provide their credit card details while making a purchase want to know that the companies they are dealing with are genuine. Your website must provide contact information of your business on every page, such as the header, the top of your sidebar, or in your footer. You must also provide multiple means of contact, including a contact form, email address, phone number, and a mailing address.

Simple checkout process: The checkout process should be as easy as possible for your customers to hand over their credit card information and complete their order. The ideal process includes a single page for customers to check their order and enter their billing and shipping information, and a confirmation page before they submit their order.

Proper product image: The product image should be large enough for customers to view it on an average monitor. You must provide large images right on the product page or allow users to click on an image to zoom in. The ideal size of your image should be 1024×768 pixel.

Also, make sure to include at least four or five images for consumers to feel comfortable that they know exactly what they are getting.

An adequate site search engine: Many customers prefer to use a search engine instead of searching through categories and filters. Make sure that your website has a good built-in search engine. An ideal ecommerce website should allow users to search by keywords and then refine results based on the categories the site includes.
