Salient features of Expanded Metal

Expanded metals are widely used in numerous applications like batteries, electronics, aerospace, medicine and packaging. Their diverse range of properties makes them versatile and applicable in numerous industries.

One of the best features of expanded metal mesh is that it is formed from one piece of material. You don’t have to worry about unraveling. The mesh gives it superior strength, providing better shielding than other materials. Being a single piece of metal, expanded metal also has properties that allow electricity and heat to flow continuously, making it highly efficient.

Expanded metals are produced by slitting and stretching the material to create its holes. In the case of perforated sheets,  on the other hand, you need to punch out the holes. This means expanded metal is manufactured with minimum waste, making it much more cost-effective than perforated sheets.

Since expanded metal products are uncut, they are much more stress-resistant. Expanded metal has a balanced strength to weight ratio, making it ideal for applications that require lightweight material with good strength. Knuckles that are formed in expanded metal mesh also provide a firm grip, making them ideal for walkways and ramps.

When it comes to aesthetics, expanded metals are a favorite with designers and architects for both interior and exterior features. They can be folded, and they come in an array of designs, shapes and sizes. Its versatility makes it convenient for creativity and design enhancement.
